Snowy Weekend in Northern New Mexico

In Town

Red River, New Mexico
11.15.09

On the Mountain

Beautiful and sunny in Oceanside - winter in Red River.
This town is on the Enchanted Circle, north/east of Taos and about 2000 feet higher in elevation.  Such a beautiful place, an alpine village.  The ski lifts come right down into the town, no going up to the slopes here, just step outside, walk 25 ft and get on the lift.

Taos Plaza 11.15.09

You can see a little snow on the roof of the gazebo - must be cold as it's almost 4pm and it hasn't burned off yet.

Looking at the peak of Taos Ski mountain - Wheeler Peak approx. 6000 feet higher than the plaza.

Another Beautiful Day in Paradise

Here's the view this morning from the Taos Mountain webcam - looks like a nice fall morning with a little of last weeks snow still on top.

Good Application for Twitter

Earlier this week the Abuquerque, NM police started Tweeting their accident and emergency calls.  They asked people not to view while driving but to be sure and check before going out on the roads to locate any problem areas.  This seems like a very good use of Twitter.

Advanced Stuff

Being the self-proclaimed Techo Geek that I am I couldn't resist the challenge to try some of the advanced stuff.  As you can see I've embeded the Twitter posts into my blog.  I first tried to add a gadget from blogger, but theirs were IMHO cheesy - then it occured to me that I could go to Twitter and see if they had an app or gadget - sure enough they did and it was very easy to use - the rest is history.

Now I'm watching and waiting for our group to post many insightful and humorous "tweets."
